Douglas Okada was born on July 25, 1984, in the city of Araraquara, SP. The early skill in drawing was noticed by his family during childhood. In 1999, he was encouraged to study at Marcelo Miura's studio, where he developed the basic foundations of oil painting. In 2002, he entered the course of Bachelor of Fine Arts at São Luís Univerty from Jaboticabal-SP. During this period, he started teaching painting and drawing classes in his studio, participated in several Fine Art Exhibitions in the country.
Okada's talent goes beyond the coherence of design and color, goes through an endless search for creative thinking and the development of a timeless work. His work gains a new dynamic by exploring the effects of light and simplification of form, presenting an immediate visual impact to the observer. The combination of traditional design and a contemporary treatment of color gives a different dynamic from other artists in the art market.
His creative side is not afraid to take risks and seeks new forms of expression for each work.
Okada is considered by critics and the public as one of the main exponents of contemporary Brazilian realism. Awarded in several art competitions in the country, he has works in private collections, museums, art galleries in Brazil and abroad. He gives workshops and lectures on the technique of oil on canvas and in recent years he has served as a judge for several art exhibitions.
